Today is going to be remarkably different than each day that has come before it. Today we work totally on your “Why.”
Read Day 7 Jump Start Your Real Estate Business

Day 8

Hour 1

  • Spend your quiet time in the morning on personal growth. I’m a BIG fan of The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership by John Maxwell.
  • Get up. Dress up. Show up.
  • For any social media reach-backs or people you’ve met in the last 24 hours put them in your database and initiate their 8×8. Get those cards and letters written.
  • Look at your database. Who is on Step 2 of your 8×8? Get those tasks completed
  • Find a quiet place to work. Or a coffee shop. Wherever you think best. Grab some drawing paper or your journal that you’ve been carrying or an empty office with a white board. Prepare to do something people rarely do…THINK.

Hour 2 and 3

  • Turn to page 67 of the Millionaire Real Estate Agent. Read the first four words of this section… “How you think matters.” Read through to page 97. There is no hurry here. I don’t care if you take the whole hour. Read. Read between the lines.
  • Take the time to fill our your BIG WHY. (Page 77, Figure 3)
  • PRO TIP: This will be harder than you think for most people. In fact, this BIG WHY stuff can be a moving target. Yet, spend time here.
  • Write notes in your book.
  • Write questions on your paper. Need help understanding why Functionary v Fiduciary is such an important distinction? Sit with your Team Leader or Broker or someone who clearly “gets it.”

Hour 4

  • Get up and go to lunch. Get out of the building. If you brought a PBJ because you still haven’t earned any money, that’s great. Eat it on your way to the library or grocery store…anywhere there are people.
  • Drop your 8x8s in the mail somewhere.
  • Talk to people. Compliment people. Help people with their groceries out to the car. (You will blow their ever-loving minds!)
  • ASK IF YOU CAN ADD THEN TO YOUR DATABASE!

Hour 5 and 6

  • Go back to your quiet place. Let’s take all those notes, highlights and thoughts from what you just read and begin to organize them.
  • What is your Big Why?
  • What are the steps to get there? What is the timeline?
  • What can you do TODAY that will get you started? (HINT: You have started! With the DLG habit you are building, daily lead generation, you can conquer the world!)
  • PRO TIP: Your mindset around DLG matters. Do you realize that once you have built a sizable database and have the DLG habit that if the President of the United States made real estate sales illegal tomorrow you could still survive? You could sell cars, or gutters, or lawn care or, or, or. You already have a great database and relationships that people will pay you money for!

Hour 7

  • THIS IS IMPORTANT: Share what you have come up with today with a loved one. If you are single, repeat to yourself everything you have come up with!
  • Hang up your goals around the house. Share with your spouse, loved one and/or kids. What is in it for the kids that you may miss a couple soccer games?
  • Enjoy your family. Talk about the future with them! Live your life. And keep your eyes open for an opportunity to meet somebody or to reconnect with somebody to add to your database.

Clearly, today’s routine was different. Yet, we DID get our DLG in, right? And tomorrow we will be right back to our new “normal” routine. However, today was about our personal growth, our goals and our tomorrows. Today was about how we think.

I highly recommend that you allow for days like this on a fairly frequent basis. I also highly recommend that you allow yourself to grow and to evolve and to not stubbornly stick to goals, ideals or habits that you’ve had just because “Well, it’s who I am.” No, it is who you were. From this day forward you get to choose Who You Will Be.
