I just spent four days at Keller Williams Realty’s Family Reunion in New Orleans, LA. So it’s natural for me to be a bit reflective today. I was reminded that everything I have ever done, everything you have ever done, has been purpose driven. Whether it’s relaxing or playing or working or hunting… You have done what you have done with an end in sight whether or not you even realized it.
That is the challenge. Most people don’t even realize why they do what they do. They just do without stopping to reflect. They get in their habits without evaluating their effect. They don’t know their big “why.” What is your big “Why?”
Understanding what drives you is a reflective exercise. It’s not a two minute deal. It’s a digging down in to your very essence to discover what it is that drives you. Why are you fearful to pick up the phone? Is it that your BIG WHY is to protect yourself from rejection? Is the BIG WHY of providing for your family bigger than your why you are fearful of the phone rejection? See where I am going with this? (By the way, this is where effective coaching can come in. Heck, even Michael Jordan had a coach.)
Patients can spend years with psychiatrists and still never understand why they behave the way they do. Real estate agents don’t have years if they want a big life, financially speaking. Take time, heck maybe a whole day, to be honest with yourself to figure out your big why. Be honest with yourself. Be honest with your spouse. Cry. Laugh. Love. Once you self discover this “why” you will be able to move forward like never before.
Have a business. Have a life.
